Fuzz N' Fluff Farm

Finn sheep are extremly hardy, rarely getting sick they are a perfect sheep for small farmers. Finn ewes will breed any month of the year, and not only that, they lamb twice per year, AND have LAMBS BY THE LITTER up to NINE lambs at a time, the record for live lambs born was SEVEN and  SIX is not uncommen! Ewes have a high mothering ability and have no problem nursing 4-6 lambs at a time.

Finn wool is also wonderfully soft and comes in blueish -grey black-light brown and white they also come piebald.  Finns normally grow 1 inch of wool per month, and are usually sheared two times per year. Finn ewes continue to produce wool even while pregnate if fed a small amount of grain, usually working up to 1 cup per ewe by lambing time.

Finns do not need lambing pens out of the weather even in cold temperatures and snow, they are well adapt to it and the lambs do great too! Your lambs will be less likely to get sick if you provide a shelter from rain and snow.

Like goats, Finns will browse if there is not much grazing, they love Dougles Fir, Hawthorn, wild rose bushes and anything edible. We let our Finns loose on aprox. 300 acres, with Lupine, and other nonedible plants, they do not eat them and we have not had any problems with it.

Rams lambs mature at 80-95 days and therefore must be weaned by 80 days and separated from their female siblings.  A ram should weigh between 180 - 240 pounds.

Ewe lambs mature 4- 8 months, and are ready for breeding by the time they reach 60 pounds.  Ewes will weigh between 140-180 pounds.

Finns sheep are naturally docked, and rarely have horns. Tails average 4-6 inches and are covered with guard type hair.

If you are looking for a productive, easily cared for, sheep, GET FINNS!

Lambs can be born in almost any position, including breach, in most cases because of their small size compared to their dam.  Lambs are up and running in minutes, even if they are small they can hardly reach their mothers udder!!
