Last December I purchased 2 Finn ewes to add to my flock, when we arrived at the farm, we found it had been raining and soggy for a long time, already some of her sheep had Footrot, and I noticed one of ours limping within a few days.
The lady told us that you can by an anabiotic, and soak their feet in it using plastic bags tied around their ankle.
Well, we would rather use something natural! So we used the method of tieing a plastic sandwich bag around the ankle, as we were told, in the bag we placed about 1/2 cup strong Coliodial Silver, Withing 2 days both ewes were completly better and their feet did not stink. We used this treatment on several other ewes that accquired the footrot, and withing 3 weeks our flock was footrot free!
Coliodial Silver can be bought at health food stores, or you can buy a kit to make it. We use a lot of silver for all types of things, we put 1/2 gallon in our water trough every couple months, or when we change our sheeps diet. The kits make it very simple and easy, and it is a nice thing to have on hand!
